When you…Love the little things
I’ve not had an amazing week. Nothing has been wrong but I’m not feeling it. I’m distracted, I’m tense, I’m grumpy, I’m eating like a pig, and my children are horrible (they sense weakness). But we’re approaching the Bank Holiday weekend (3 hours until the little bug…angels are in bed and Mr Aimee and I can celebrate our 3 day weekend together) so I think it’s time I snapped out of it.
I could pour myself a glass of wine – very tempted – but I don’t like to do that until the kids are in bed. I could eat chocolate, but erm, it’s not worked so far this week. I could go and play outside with the boys, but both are currently collapsed on the sofa exhausted, and I don’t blame them it’s been a hell of a week. So instead, I thought I’d join in with a little blog thing that I read every week – it’s called Love the little things and is hosted over at But Why Mummy Why. I figured that by reminding myself of the good, I should smile and snap out of everything – IT WILL WORK OK? So here goes…
Read
My book. I’m still editing it and starting to get impatient.
When I’m not reading my own book, I’ve been trying to catch up on various blogs, and this blog post by WitWooWoo made me think a lot.
When I do find time to sit down with a book, it’s a bit of old school Sophie Kinsella to make me laugh.
Watched
This afternoon, a brief respite in a basically difficult Chunky Monkey day, we curled up on the sofa after swimming (which was also lovely actually), and watched Toy Story 3. Apart from the snotty crying at the end, I laughed a lot at my favourite Ken and Barbie scene.
Wore
My PJs. Them, wine and chocolate have been a big part of my week. (As has pizza, curry and gin).
Heard
A lot of tantrums and fighting…but this is happy remember Aimee Good Little Things.
*thinks for a second – ah ha!*
For some reason when it comes to writing ‘Dottie’, only some songs will do. It’s become a bit of a ritual, that when I’m home from the school run, after breakfast, and it’s time to sit down at my desk, I stick on my Dolly Parton CD and stick Jolene on first.
I CAN’T HELP IT I LOVE IT SO MUCH. Plus, it’s totally a song that when I sing to myself, I sound good and not at all tone deaf.
Made
‘Nuff Said
and lastly…
When I was sitting at my computer glaring at a really annoying email (REALLY REALLY annoying), these two monkeys came down to join me. Except they’re not monkeys, they’re teenage mutant ninja turtle-cats. Obvs.
This is a link up with one of my favourite blogs, and bloggers. Make sure you go and check out her post, along with the others who have joined in. If they don’t make you smile, here’s the gin x
