When it’s getting close.

I often joke about being part of the Bad Mums Club but with the release of “Mothers Ruined” being a matter of weeks away, I’m really feeling it.

I don’t need to tell you that writing a book takes a lot of time and effort, but even I didn’t realise how absorbed I would become in the “cleaning up” stage, the bit I’m in now. After all, the story is written. It has been for weeks, and I’m on my third set of edits. Beta readers have come back with their feedback, bloggers have been prepared to read it, friends have listened to me hyperventilate over coffee, text message and cake.

I had two weeks off. It was only meant to be one, but Sky (or BT one of the two), came out to fix a broadband issue which had been going on for MONTHS. Things didn’t go to plan, and the engineer broke it more, meaning that I haven’t had phone or internet for 10 days, except for paying for BT-Fon so I can do work – don’t worry I’m billing them.

Anyway, Easter, and internet issues got in the way, and whilst this wasn’t a bad thing (it was actually lovely, don’t tell anybody), it has set me back. So this week, so I meet my tight deadlines, I have been the worst mother in the world.  I’ve totally been relying on iPads, Nick Jnr and baked beans.

I’m nearly there though. The finish line is getting closer, but first I need to talk about something else. ‘Survival of the Ginnest’ is one year old tomorrow. That’s right. It’s been a year since I pressed the button, and I’m so glad I did. I’m not going to get gushy, but my gosh it’s been a busy year. To celebrate, if you haven’t already done so, you can download Dottie for 77p. If you’ve read and liked ‘Survival of the Ginnest’ please do leave a review as it makes the days where The Chunky Monkey throws beans across the room a lot happier.

The other thing I’ve done to celebrate is publish the first chapter of ‘Mothers Ruined’. I originally published it with a blog post here, on my other website, but you can also read it below.

If you can’t see the first chapter below click here to view the PDF.

I really really hope you like it, and want to read more.

p.s. Amazing cover by Number75Designs.
