NaNoWriMo 2014

Oct
31

Oh my giddy Aunt, it’s nearly November, and if I haven’t got enough on with extending my work hours I’ve also decided to do NaNoWriMo again.

The logo that gives me nightmares…

NaNoWriMo – or National Novel Writing Month if we’re going with the full name happens every November and is and I quote “a fun, seat-of-your-pants approach to creative writing. On November 1, participants begin working towards the goal of writing a 50,000-word novel by 11:59 PM on November 30.”

In other words, it’s stressful for anyone who doesn’t write books full time. I would love to write books full time but I haven’t written enough, or sold enough, for that to be so yet (HINT HINT), and because of that, as much as I LOVE writing stories, and I really do, it’s my favouritest thing in the whole wide world, pennies followed by Netflix always seem to sneak in and push my motivation to the back of the queue.

I’ve been promising myself for ages I’d write this book, the one I’ve made a million notes on and that I dream about. I’ve promised YOU for ages, loads of posts promising to deadlines and committing, but if I’m totally honest, I’ve just been bloody lazy.

So I’m using NaNoWriMo as a boot up the bum to finish this first draft so I can revisit it after Christmas.

Thing is though, as I get started on a new novel, I’m a touch needy (please ignore the fact that I am all the time), I worry that it’s rubbish, that you’ll all hate it, yada yada yada, so I wondered if perhaps you’d be interested in helping giving me that kick up the arse?

As the writing process moves on, I rely heavily on my beta readers to give honest opinions, good and bad, and am always looking for new people to get on board, and I thought what better time to get people on board than during this painful sprint of a month?

Therefore if you’re interested in beta reading, and hearing about my latest NaNoWriMo pain, please add your email address here and I’ll keep you posted. The first 10 names to sign up will be included on my beta reading list and the rest will receive regular updates, along with the opportunity to have a sneaky pre-release read and review the book when it’s ready to come out.

Also, make sure you check out my YouTube channel where I will be giving regular updates and tips here.

In other news, to celebrate (is that the right word?) the fact that I’m taking part in NaNoWriMo again this year, all Dottie books will be discounted to under £1 between 01/11/2014 and 30/11/2014. Click here to download the ones you haven’t read yet!

Anyone else joining in to NaNoWriMo let me know and we can motivate each other together – go forth and enjoy your last few days of relaxation because as of Saturday BRING IT ON!
